Schaeffler to partner with FG Series
FG Series has partnered with the Motion Technology Company Schaeffler ahead of the championship’s launch in 2025. Schaeffler have been a fixture on the international motorsport scene for decades and the wide-ranging participation has cemented them as a global player in the field of mobility worldwide.
Schaeffler is involved in numerous areas of motorsport. From the successful history as a pioneer and World Champion in FIA Formula E, to the Formula 1 Academy with Carrie Schreiner, to Formula Student. FG Series will now join the prestigious list of motorsport partners.
Reducing financial barriers to entry to motorsport is a key ethos for FG Series as the new championship is on a mission to make the sport more accessible and present globally. Schaeffler will supply e-mobility components like inverters and e-motors including software to make professional racing more affordable.
Talent development is also a passion for both Schaeffler and FG Series which is why the partners explore opportunities for talents to intern with the championship to increase their skills and confidence in a practical setting.
Schaeffler’s years of experience within automotive manufacturing will help FG Series have a clear road map to introduce further technology into the race car which will provide better racing and entertainment. The so-called FG-Twin was designed by automotive designer and futurist Daniel Simon – in close collaboration with the founders of the FG Series, Dilbagh Gill and Nick Heidfeld. The FG-Twin embodies two core elements of the FG Series: advancing all-electric racing and making it accessible at the same time.
“We are proud to supply the FG Series with our e-mobility components, thereby reducing the financial entry barriers for talented drivers. In general, affordable e-mobility is key for a successful green transition.”
DTM and FG Series announce cooperation
The FG series will also make a big appearance in Germany. The innovative racing platform will compete in the supporting program of the DTM, the largest European GT series, from 2025. Schaeffler is also involved there as an innovation partner. With its technological expertise, the company is actively helping to lead the DTM into an attractive future.
Heidfeld: “With the FG Series, we are providing a holistic training platform. The cooperation with the DTM provides us with the first strong regional platform where drivers can demonstrate their talent on relevant tracks at established events. As a junior, I was able to enjoy the ADAC’s support for young talent myself and now we will work together to promote and help shape the next generation of motorsport.”
